| Once
you have created and published your basic easisites website you
can start building an online shop.
The
stages:
1.
Set up a PayPal account
In
order to receive money over Internet you need an account at a
Payment processor. Easisites has chosen to work with PayPal because
they are well known, reliable and, above all, it’s free
to set up your seller’s account.
If
you already sell items on eBay you will have a PayPal account.
Otherwise visit www.paypal.co.uk and sign up for a “business”
account. PayPal’s business account lets you trade under
your business name rather than your personal name.
At
no time do we at easisites (or your customers) ever see your PayPal
password. Only your PayPal account name is visible – so
choose one that sounds good for your business.
Do
not set up any VAT, shipping or delivery rules at PayPal. That’s
all handled when you add your products for sale in easisites.
2.
Create your easisites shop
Return
to your easisite and start updating your site as usual.
Click
the gold Extras button and choose “Online Shop”. If
this is your first update of the shop you need to fill out some
basics like your PayPal account name and delivery costs &
VAT rate (if any).
Adding
Products…
To
add a product you need its name and to say which web page you
want it listed on. You can divide each product into multiple options
such as large/small or by colour etc. giving each option the same
or different prices. Best of all you can upload a photo of each
item you are selling.
As
soon as you submit the product details your site will be displaying
the item(s) for sale.
3.
Sell online
Once
you have items for sale your visitors can click to buy them. The
items accrue in an on-screen basket and once they’ve chosen
all their items the shopper clicks through to the checkout which
requests the shoppers name/address (which is emailed to you with
details of the purchase) and takes their money into your PayPal
account.
4.
Deliver and collect the money
You
deliver the goods as per the order received and later move the
money from PayPal into your own bank account by logging in at
PayPal and requesting the transfer. Remember that PayPal keep
a small percentage of every transaction. Check their website for
the latest figures.
If
any customer should contact you regarding an order you have your
email to refer to the details. In case that is lost you can visit
easisites via a link in the order emails to view details of every
order you ever received – very handy for those accounts
at the end of the year.
Legalities
There
are laws governing online selling but we’ve made it very
easy for you to comply. The easisites system generates the necessary
wording regarding returns policies etc. You can stick with our
suggested terms or edit the wording to suit your situation.
What can you sell?
You
don’t have to sell tangible products. One of our more successful
sites is using the shop facility to collect membership fees. Another
site plans to sell places on their training courses.
How
many items can you sell?
You
can sell as many as you wish, but we have a range of fees based
solely on the number of items in your shop – not what they’re
worth or how many you deliver.
Up
to 2 items – FREE (this allows you to get your shop going
without expense)
Up to 20 items - £50 per year*
Up to 100 items - £100 per year*
Unlimited items - £200 per year*
* in addition to your
standard easisites payments and excluding VAT
